Elementary School Counselor

We are currently seeking an experienced and qualified Elementary School Counselor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing counseling services to students in the Early Years stage of the IB PYP curriculum.

- Serve as the first line of defense in identifying and addressing the social/emotional needs of students within the school environment.

- Assist students with social/emotional issues that may become barriers to academic success.

- Develop a school counseling curriculum and provide individual counseling to students.

- Organize visits from external partners and lectures related to student well-being.

- Facilitate meetings between students, parents, and external professionals.

- Coordinate and process the necessary support documentation to meet some of the students’ (social/emotional) needs.

- Provide students with resources related to self-awareness, well-being, and socio-emotional learning.

- Teach socio-emotional learning classes for upper grades.

- Maintain student/counseling records and relevant correspondence for counseling.

- Establish relationships and networks with other professionals in the field.

- Build relationships with students, staff, and families, ensuring confidentiality in all personal matters.

- Annually review policies related to student well-being.

- Ensure student records are stored securely and confidentially – digitally and physically, if necessary.

- Assist the coordinator in situations involving poor student behavior (dealing with parents, staff, and students).

- Meet internal deadlines and legal timelines.

- Interface with other areas of the school for the best outcome in their responsibilities.

- A Graduate Diploma in Counseling or related field

- Minimum of 6 years experience as a school counselor

- Knowledge of the IB PYP curriculum

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders

- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
